happy mexican independence day
Ok, ok...so I'm a day early. But since no one reads my blog on the weekends, I wanted to express the sentiment before ya'll leave me!
And I know some of you are thinking, it's cinco de mayo already? But no, peeps. Mexico celebrates Independence Day on September 16th, the day Father Miguel Hidalgo declared the end of Spanish rule (back in 1810...the actual independence didn't happen until the same day 15 years later). I've been trying to teach my friends about the difference between cinco de mayo and diesiceis de septiembre for years. Don't be surprised if you see a post about this May 5th and September 16th of next year.
So how is this Mexican celebrating? Well, I could always try to make it out to some random Mexican "Cantina" but instead I will honor the day by downing Coronas at Baileys while watching the USC game. I know, I know. I should be celebrating the day with my compadres. But I can't let my Trojans down.
Have a good weekend, peeps. Don't OD on the margaritas!
Oh and...Fight on, Trojans!
