the stream of consciousness post

I just bought the new Kelly Clarkson CD (twas cheaper at Tar-jay than iTunes). I heart Kelly. I’m almost ashamed to admit this but I’ve loved her since she won American Idol. My favorite song of hers is still Miss Independent. Anyways, her new CD rocks, I mean literally. It’s mostly a bunch of man-hating rock songs reminiscent of Pat Benetar with a couple of Sarah McLachlan-type of slow songs. Seeing as that I’m a big lyrics person, I may not be in the mood for this CD unless I was depressed. However, I think Kelly sounds really good.

Download these: Never Again, Don’t Waste Your Time, Can I Have a Kiss, and Irvine.

Also, my next haircut/dye job will hopefully look like this:

Hosting a tailgate is really hard work. I don’t know how Bill does it. And I really don’t know how Bill does it for every single Virginia Tech home game. I have a whole new respect for him. I was in awe of him before but now I’m completely flabbergasted. He truly is the Tailgate King.

Speaking of which, thanks to everyone who calmed me down from my freak out earlier this week. Jesse decided to buy Popeye’s chicken rather than purchasing a grill. The chicken was a huge hit actually, but he got too much and we’ve been eating fried chicken for lunch and dinner since Wednesday with no end in sight. Ugh. Also, we’ve got 7 bags of chips left. I thought I might’ve gone a little overboard with the snacks.

Jesse and I bought some DVDs a while back from the local mom & pops video store in our neighborhood. They were having a sale on DVDs (buy two get one free). Jesse and I decided on the 2nd Pirates movie and Borat. What did we get for free, you ask? Unfortunately, we got Snakes on a Plane. The movie was certainly not Oscar caliber (Jesse and I both expected to laugh through the whole thing). The only parts we didn’t laugh at were the scenes where the snakes attacked the people. They were incredibly gruesome. So, if anyone is interested in a really bad movie with so-so special effects, an unbelievable plot, and incredibly disgusting scenes of snakes attacking humans, then email me (the link is on the right hand side of this blog). I would be more than happy to give it to you for free. In fact, I am willing to pay for postage just to get that thing off of my hands!

Jesse and I are going to the LSU/Virginia Tech game in September! It will be my first time in Louisiana and I can’t wait to do some serious partying.

My sister met Mr. I-Love-You-After-Three-Dates for coffee. Booooo!

I really, really can’t wait to go home. I’m so homesick.

I’ve decided that I need a break from talking to Jesse about our future together. I’m going to let my family do the work for me when Jesse and I go to California in 12 days. Actually, my mom has been waiting 6 months to tell him how she feels about this whole marriage thing so this should be interesting. I have a feeling I will be sitting back, watching this all go down and nodding my head in agreement.

I need to get new glasses. I realized that I had a hard time seeing from far away while I was driving home Tuesday night. It’s been two years since my last prescription and I have already scheduled an appointment with my ophthalmologist in Cali. The only good thing about this is that I finally get to update my frames. The bad news is that my insurance doesn’t cover the cost of glasses.

I’m going to Pittsburg on Saturday with Jesse and some of his friends. We’re going to see the Pirates play the Cubs so I’m excited about seeing a whole new ballpark!

Have a fabulous weekend, blog peeps. I’ll be back on Monday with pics from Pittsburg.

On the agenda for next week's posts: Am I brown enough?

I can't wait to have a weekend of baton rouge madness! So glad y'all are coming along for the fun :)

I'll pass along the shout out to Bill, it will probably make his week. We're already planning the upcoming tailgating season.

I get a lot of help from others who are just as interested as I am in making the tailgate a lot of fun. I can't wait for LSU!

I grew up in New Orleans! When it comes time I'll give a list of non-touristy places to go if you want. It's only an hour drive away and besides, the city still despartely needs any and all tourist money that comes its way. (I can give you good places to go in Baton Rouge, but will do so under protest as it is doing just fine Post Katrina). --Erika

Is it wrong for a big-strong-roughy-tough guy to like Kelly Clarkson? If so, I'm wrong ;)

jilian--thanks. it felt pretty liberating just to write whatever was on my mind without it having to make much sense. i may do the stream of consciousness post as a regular feature. maybe i'll call it the friday brain dump.

beth--i'm excited about baton rouge. i can't wait! i'm not surprised that bill is already planning for this year's tailgates.

bill--you're so modest. just admit it! you're the king and you know it! :)

erika--i would love it if you recommended some places for us to go. we're definitely planning on spending some time in new orleans (just exactly how much time depends on when we get our plane tickets). i would love to offer some post-katrina support to the fine peeps of new orleans!

beakerz--jesse is not going to be happy with me for telling you this, but he's big, strong, and tough like you and i've caught him singing "since you've been gone" a bunch of times. occasionally, i join in.

so, no, you're not wrong!
