fun, frisky felines: online kitty shopping addicts anonymous

"Ok, let's go ahead and start the meeting. It appears we have a new member of the group. Let's all give her a warm welcome. Lizzie, would you like to tell us about yourself."

"Um, hi. My name is Lizzie. I live in Arlington. I am a proud parent of two adorable kitties. And, even though I love them more than words can say, I just can't help it. I'm always on the lookout for more.

"There's just SO many kitties out there that need good homes. And I WANT TO SAVE THEM ALL!!! The DC Craigslist Pet section is like crack to me. I check it all the time. I look at all the pictures of precious kitties just hoping to be adopted and I want to rescue them so bad.

"Like this one for example:

"She's gorgeous! And she's got her little white beard. Look at that shiny black coat! She looks like she could be related to my Nicky.
To adopt her, go here.

"And there's Joe. He's a tuxedo.

"He's being taken care of by Homeward Trails which is an excellent rescue that helped us adopt our adorable Gracie.  Look at his little white paws. I just want to smooch his paw pads (after a bath, of course)
To adopt him, go here.

"And look at the face on this little orange tabby

Angelic, no?
To adopt him, go here.

"And then there's Molly who is a grey and white tuxedo:

"OH. EM. GEE. Want her...really bad.
To adopt Molly, go here.

"Check out this creamsicle kitty:

"He is totally nom-able. Look at that heart-shaped face!
To adopt him, go here.

"So yeah, I can't help but look for rescue kitties on Craigslist almost daily.  One day, I know I'll adopt again, but until then, at least I have craigslist.

"My name is Lizzie and I am addicted to shopping for kitties online."

Hi Lizzie!

:)

I go on petfinder.com all the time and look at the critters. It really does break my heart how many animals are out there without homes and love and kisses and snuggles.

As we know, I am SO not a cat person, but that creamsicle kitty? I could love him.

I'm a fan of petfinder when searching for my beloved corgis. I also look at local rescue sites. I need to stop looking at the site for the NOVA SPCA, because on the dog list, there is a rottie named Angel who has been there for at least a year, and it breaks my heart every time I see her face because I want her so much!!!

i would love to get a second cat.. but the one time i tried to give Madison a cat friend it was all hissing all the time. have you ever had problems introducing the new cat?

instatick: i look forward to seeing you at future meetings! :)

if CL pets section is like crack, petfinder is my heroin. i can only take petfinder in small doses because it's so sad how many furbabies are out there looking for homes.

lexiloo: awww...at least angel's still on there. on some of the animal shelter sites, when they take down a cat/dog, i wonder if it's been adopted...or if something else happened :(

michelle: before we got our little gracie, someone recommended that i read "cat vs. cat", which is essentially a how-to guide on introducing kitties to minimize the hissing period. i followed the rules in the book and it took us nearly 4 weeks to get gracie and nicky to play nicely and now they can't stand to be apart.

the book is good reading anyway to help you understand your kitty better. http://www.amazon.com/Cat-Vs-Keeping-Peace-When/dp/0142004758
